Many passers-by couldn’t believe their eyes: music superstar and football fan Elton John at a gas station not far from Liverpool FC stadium? However, the fuss ultimately turned out to be just a PR stunt.

Doppelganger: The confusion surrounding the sighting of “Elton John” at a petrol station near Liverpool’s Anfield Stadium has been resolved. It was a doppelganger with a red suit and the gold lettering “Rocket Man”. In order to deceive other people, the man was accompanied by two “security guards”, reports the “Dailystar”.

Short, compact, clear

Marketing Ads Only: The mystery was solved by Lewis Ellis, owner of Hussel Marketing, on Twitter. It would have been “a disruptive marketing ad for ‘Primark’ in Liverpool with a fake Elton John for less than 950 euros”.

Promotional video surfaced: The makers of the campaign also released a video showing the Elton John look-alike getting out of a black Bentley. As he walks through Liverpool city center and approaches the advertised store, he is surrounded by a large crowd.
