In Australia, the story of the Cuthbertson family is making headlines. The parents lost their second child years ago to cancer. Now her youngest son also has cancer. The doctors speak of an “incomprehensible coincidence.”

Nobody would wish for what a family in Australia is currently going through: parents Ben and Laura lost their second child to cancer in 2013 when they were only five years old. They mourned for a long time with their eldest son, and in 2015 a third child was born: another boy.

But now the family is experiencing horror again: their youngest son Asher was also diagnosed with cancer. The six-year-old suffers from lymph node cancer, he has already wrapped around his heart and large blood vessels.

After the death of their second child, parents and brother now have to fear for their lives again. “Doctors told Ben and Laura that the cancers are completely independent and the result of an incomprehensible coincidence. Ben, Laura and their boys remain confident as a family that Asher will fight and win. But they are understandably devastated, traumatized and exhausted,” a family friend was quoted as saying.

Family friends have launched a fundraiser to provide financial support to parents “because childhood cancer can financially ruin a family.”

Australian media reported on the case, the goal of 10,000 Australian dollars (around 6600 euros) was quickly reached. In the meantime, around 33,000 AUD (a good 22,000 euros) have been collected.
