Anyone who wants to eat in the “Bunte Kuh” restaurant on Langeoot must be at least 12 years old. The innkeeper has denied access to all children below this age limit – this causes a lot of fuss and hatred. But the restaurateur is not a “child hater” – on the contrary.
The first reports made the rounds as early as 2020, and now the “ban on children” in a restaurant on Langeoog is causing a stir again: children under 12 are not allowed in the “Bunte Kuh” on the North Sea island.
Among other things, “RTL” reports on this. Since then, the host has had to be insulted as a “child hater”. However, the restaurateur’s motive is completely different. “For safety reasons, we have decided not to let children under the age of 12 into our restaurant. We don’t want them to hurt themselves,” he explains to “RTL”.
And further: “Our hotel restaurant is very small. There is no parking space for strollers. There is no possibility of escape.” Since he also serves food that is served on stones that are 400 degrees hot, there is another source of danger, the landlord argues. “Cod and lamb are flambéed at the table. That doesn’t go together with small children.”
He has two children himself, so he knows what he’s talking about. The restaurateur cannot understand that the decision is now being hotly debated online and that hatred is being met with him. He runs other restaurants on Langeoog, where children under the age of 12 are of course catered for. “There are children’s meals, play corners with toys.”
