Sven and Lars Bender will be working for the third division club TSV 1860 Munich again in the future, and a contract is about to be signed. As a player, however, you will no longer see them.
Bender return in a new role: The former internationals Sven and Lars Bender (33) are returning to their youth club 1860 Munich – but no longer as a player. According to “Bild”, the twins should take on the roles of mentoring the talented youngsters in the third division and also take on representative appointments as figureheads of the club.
Short, compact, clear
Injuries prevent comeback as a player: As early as May, club president Robert Reisinger revealed in the “Giesinger Bergfest” podcast that talks were being held with the Benders about returning, but “unfortunately it’s no longer enough to play because they’re too injury-prone and they don’t care don’t want to do anymore.”
The Bender twins began their careers at 1860: in 2002 the two Upper Bavarians joined 1860, where they became professionals in 2006. In 2009, Sven switched to Borussia Dortmund for 1.5 million euros and Lars to Bayer Leverkusen for 2.5 million euros. Both had ended their professional careers in 2021 and have been active for their home club in Brannenburg in the 9th league ever since.
