Hertha BSC is progressing with plans for its own stadium, as the plans of those responsible now show. One thing in particular stands out: the structure is similar to that of the world-famous “Bombonera” in Buenos Aires.

New plans of the Hertha bosses: The finance boss of Hertha BSC, Ingo Schiller, presents the plans for the capital club’s own arena. These are strongly reminiscent of the legendary “Bombonera” in Buenos Aires, Argentina, which is home to Boca Juniors, as reported by “Bild”. In particular, the new stadium could have a narrower grandstand, just like its prototype, which would lead to “less interference with the Maifeld”, a listed green area at the Olympic station north of the area to be built on.

Short, compact, clear

Architectural miracle in Buenos Aires: The “Bombonera”, also known as the chocolate box due to its rectangular floor plan, is characterized above all by its space-saving design. As a result, it hardly disturbs the surrounding residential area. This is where Diego Maradona once played for Boca Juniors.

Away from the Olympic Stadium: For many years, Hertha has dreamed of leaving the immensely large Olympic Stadium, which can hardly be filled, and moving to its own home. The new arena could accommodate around 45,000 fans, and 36,500 for international matches.
