At the age of 25, Brie Duval’s life took a drastic turn. The Canadian-based Australian fell out of a parking garage one night while hanging out with friends. Due to the darkness and lack of barriers, Brie didn’t notice her walking toward the chasm. Eventually, she fell onto the sidewalk, reports The Mirror.
Her friends immediately called the emergency services and she was taken to a hospital by helicopter. There, doctors found a brain injury and numerous broken bones. Brie had to be put on life support in the intensive care unit.
The 25-year-old fell into a coma for four weeks, and doctors gave her a 10 percent chance of survival. But her parents refused to turn off the life support.

Within three weeks, Brief showed signs of improvement. When she woke up, she couldn’t remember anything because she had suffered a traumatic brain injury. But bit by bit her memories came back.
Soon, however, shocking news awaited her. Her boyfriend, who she had been with for four years, had broken up with Brie while she was in a coma and had started dating another woman. She found out about this via a text message that her boyfriend’s new partner had sent her.
“I haven’t heard from him since I was in hospital, he has completely let me down. So I don’t even know why that happened,” said the young woman. Brie spent a total of five months in the hospital recovering from the accident. Now she has to learn to live with the traumatic brain injury.
