The unusually high level of inflation this year even amazes the presenter of the RTL cult show “Der Preis ist hot”, Harry Wijnvoord.
“I was horrified now too. My butter brand, which used to cost 2.49, now costs 2.99 euros,” said the entertainer (73) of the German Press Agency.
For the participants of his popular RTL show “The price is hot”, the high price increases make it more difficult to win. For the shipment, you have to sort everyday items by price, among other things. “It’s challenging at the moment,” said Wijnvoord. “But we have an iron rule: You can do anything, just don’t outdo it. Whoever comes closest to the prize I’m looking for wins. But you have to stay under it.” That is indeed a “challenge,” said the Dutchman. “But of course there are great prizes” that you can win.
In May, the annual rate of inflation in Germany jumped to 7.9 percent according to preliminary figures from the Federal Statistical Office.
Wijnvoord is one of the star guests at the sonnenklar.TV gala “Goldene Sonne Spezial”. The show celebrating the 40th anniversary of private television in Germany will be celebrated in Essen on July 2nd. It was originally planned for 2021 and was postponed due to Corona.
