Thanks to the ARD broadcasts of the big carnival sessions on Shrove Monday in Cologne’s Gürzenich, “Et Rumpelstilzje” became a foolish cult. Now its creator has passed away after a short, serious illness. The legendary Büttenredner was 76 years old.

Fritz Schopps, born in 1946, worked full-time as a teacher. He taught at the Willy Brandt Comprehensive School in Cologne-Höhenhau. Since 2002, Schopps has held the honorary title “Magister linguae et humoris Coloniensis” – translated: Master of the Cologne language and Cologne humor.
