With the exception of Dortmund’s Marco Reus, national soccer coach Hansi Flick can count on all 25 national players for the Nations League opener against Italy. 22 field players and three goalkeepers were in action on Friday morning in Herzogenaurach for the final training session for the game in Bologna. The DFB entourage will not fly from Nuremberg to Italy until the afternoon, where the game will be played at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara on Saturday (8.45 p.m. / RTL).
For Flick, the Nations League is a location determination on the way to the World Cup in Qatar in November. “After that we can draw a conclusion on how far we have come. We want to be successful in the Nations League,” said the national coach.
BVB attacker Reus is missing in Franconia because of an infection in the family. It was initially unclear whether he could be there for the other games next Tuesday in Munich against England and then in Budapest against Hungary and finally on June 14 in the second leg against European champions Italy in Mönchengladbach.
