After leaving Dortmund, Erling Haaland (21) gives an insight into his emotional life over the past few months for the first time. The death of player advisor Mino Raiola and the change theater around him have left their mark.
Difficult end of the season: Erling Haaland will not have fond memories of the first months of 2022. “These were tough months, it wasn’t easy,” the Norwegian admitted at a national team press conference.
Consultant death before the transfer was completed: The hardest thing for him was coping with the death of his consultant Mino Raiola in April. “That was very difficult. It made things different. You can imagine what I went through, it was a bit of everything.” Raiola had been working on his move to Manchester City until shortly before his death.
Full BVB focus to the end: Nevertheless, Haaland does not want to be accused of not being present with his head in the last few games for BVB: “It wasn’t easy. But I did what I could for Dortmund for two and a half years. […] I’m good at blocking things out and concentrating on one thing: on-pitch performance.”
