As free agency officially opened Wednesday, the Minnesota Vikings began to tackle their offseason tasks by signing punter Jordan Berry, defensive tackle Harrison Phillips and tight end Johnny Mundt to terms.
Phillips will take over for Michael Pierce, who was fired this week. After being drafted by the Bills in the third round at Stanford in 2018, he played four seasons for them. In 2021, he played 474 of his career-high 474 games for the Bills.
Mundt spent five years with Los Angeles Rams, after he signed as an undrafted-free agent from Oregon. He’s now following Kevin O’Connell, the new head coach, and Wes Phillips, the offensive coordinator to Minnesota.
Schlottmann can play center and guard, and he played for the Denver Broncos the past four seasons. He was not drafted by TCU, and has made seven career starts.
Berry was eighth in the NFL with 27 punts within the 20 yard line. In his first season, Berry’s gross average of 46.5 yards per kick was second-best in Vikings History.
