After conceding a late equalizer against Troyes, Marseille was unable to move up three points in second place in France’s league.
After playmaker Dimitri Payet’s penalty gave Marseille the lead in the 28th minute, Yoann Touzghar, Marseille’s striker, took advantage of poor Marseille defense to score an equalizer. Payet scored the ninth league goal of his club, which was also his club-leading ninth.
The second place guarantee entry into the Champions League next season, while Marseille is one point behind Nice in third and a playoff spot.
Lyon scored a late equalizer to win the 1-0 victory over Lille, the defending champion.
Lille goalkeeper Leo Jardim saved Moussa Dembele, center forward, from a missed chance. Lille scored its first goal on target in the 35th.
Thiago Mendes dragged a cross from the left into Gabriel Gudmundsson’s path, but he was too slow to do so. He volleyed home from close range.
Jardim was able to save Lucas Paqueta, a midfielder, in the 76th, but was beaten in the 86th. After Jardim had missed his kick, Paqueta took possession of the ball and kicked it to the ground. After Jardim’s kick, Paqueta attempted to roll the ball in but was disqualified by a video review.
Lille is now 8th, while Lyon fell to 10th.

After a 2-1 win over Angers Lens, Lens moved up to sixth in the race for European places. Jonathan Clauss hit a floating goal that lobbed Danijel Petkovic (77th) in the 77th.
Lens is just three points behind Rennes, fourth in the Europa League spot.
Monaco lost 2-1 to Reims despite Wissam Ben Yodder’s league-leading 15th goal, which saw him move one ahead of Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mobappe.
In the 84th, Monaco’s striker Kevin Volland scored an own-goal. Soon after Jean Lucas, a Monaco midfielder, was dismissed, Nathanael Muku, a stoppage time winner, equalized for the visitors.
Lorient was able to move out of the relegation area with a win at Brest of 1-0, while fellow strugglers Bordeaux & Metz both drew.
Clermont drew Bordeaux 1-1 in the last-place draw, while Metz (18th place) was held at Nantes 0-0.
PSG defeated Saint-Etienne 3-1 after falling behind for the thirteenth time in 26 matches. Next Saturday, PSG travels to Nice.
