Antonio Conte questioned his future as Tottenham manager after seeing his team lose 1-0 at relegation-threatened Burnley on Wednesday for a fourth defeat in its last five games in the Premier League.
Conte stated that he would speak to the London club hierarchy to determine if Conte is the right man for Tottenham.
Conte stated, “I am too honest for this type of situation to accept,” and “for sure we will make an evaluation with the club.
“Because it isn’t right, it’s impossible for everyone to continue to lose. This is unacceptable to me.”
Saturday’s impressive 3-2 win over Manchester City brought out the optimism against a windy Turf Moor team from Burnley. They started the game in last place.
After 3 1/2 months at Tottenham, Conte was forced to question his abilities as a manager.
“First time in my life, four defeats in five. Conte suggested that maybe I’m not as good as I thought. “Tottenham called to improve the situation. But I am too honest to keep my eyes closed and continue saying, “OK, but I want to finish this season (and) my salary in this manner.” No, I’m not that type of person. I am ambitious.”
Tottenham is eighth, seven points behind the top four, but has two games to play over fourth-place Manchester United.
Conte stated, “In the last five matches, we are playing as if we were in relegation (trouble),”
“Maybe there’s something wrong. I want to accept responsibility. If that is the case, I am open to all decisions. From the moment I arrive, I will help Tottenham. It is also not fair to me to receive my salary at the moment.
