Gabrielle Giffords (former U.S. Rep.) announced Saturday that she was leaving an Arizona hospital following treatment for appendicitis.
Gifford stated, “I’m improving — let’s get better,” as she raised her right arm and made a fist in a short video clip she posted to Twitter.
“Eleven years ago, my journey to recovery ended at the hospital. Today, I am glad that it is only appendicitis. I am grateful to my family, friends, and @CaptMarkKelly who give true meaning to the phrase “in sickness and health,” she stated in a statement.
Giffords’ husband, U.S. Senator Mark Kelly, a Democrat of Arizona, announced Wednesday that Giffords had been admitted to a hospital and was planning to return to Tucson to see her.
