Indiana (19-5 Big Ten, 11-3 Big Ten), scored a program record 42 points in the fourth quarter. It closed a 22 point deficit but failed to make its three last shots. Iowa (17-7,11-4) scored 25 points in the quarter. It also made nine of the 14 free throws that were needed to win the game.
Both teams missed 11 of their 12 first shots. Iowa made its next 11 shots, jumping to a 23-8 advantage. Iowa never trailed, and was leading by as much 24. Going into the final quarter, the Hawkeyes led by 22 points before Indiana rallied.
Aleksa Gulbe led Indiana with 22 points. Grace Berger scored 21 points, while Ali Patberg scored 18.
In the first half, Clark was the Hoosiers’ most important defensive player. Clark had only two points during the half but still had seven assists. Czanano had four. Clark made 6 of 10 shots in the second half. Clark finished the game with 12 assists, which is a double-double.
Iowa, which was averaging 84 point per game, scored the most points allowed by Indiana’s defense this season. On Monday, Indiana allowed Nebraska 72 points. Indiana’s 91 offensive points were tied for the season-high.
The Hawkeyes won the game with a 56.7% shooting percentage and a total of 10 out of 19 attempts from beyond the arc. Indiana made 6 of 21 3-pointers and shot 42.5%. Both teams shot more than 57% during the fourth quarter.
