Smollett was convicted of five out six charges
According to reports, actor Jussie Stullett was found guiltyof lying to policelast Week after he claimed that he was the victim a hate crime. A Subway sandwich was key evidence in the case against his, the former Chicago cop superintendent stated.
Eddie Johnson, an ex-superintendent, told NewsNationNow’s Morning in America that Smollett fled his home at 2 a.m. the day he claimed to have been attacked in order to buy the sandwich.
Johnson stated, “OK, that’s okay,” adding that it was the coldest morning in Chicago that year, and that there was not a single person on the streets. “He returns and is attacked in a hate-crime, presumptive hate-crime, and during all that scuffle, they poured bleach all over him and all of it – and when he finally got up to go into his apartment, he still had the Subway sandwich with he. It doesn’t happen.
After the alleged attack, Smollett spoke with police in his apartment. This was captured on body camera footage.
Johnson stated that victims often leave everything they own when they are attacked because they fear for their safety.

Johnson said that Smollett seemed “nonchalant” in removing the noose his attackers placed around his neck when he returned to his apartment. Johnson also stated that Johnson gave him pause.
Johnson, a Black man, said to the Chicago station, “I don’t think there are many Black Americans in America who would have a noose around his neck, and wouldn’t immediately take it off.”
Smollett claimed that two men attacked him in 2019, as he is gay and Black. Smollett later claimed that the two attackers were paid to carry out the attack.
He was found guilty for telling a police officer that he was hate crime victim, telling another officer that he was also a victim of battery, and telling a detective that he was a victim of battery. A sixth charge, in which he told a second detective that he was an aggravated victim of battery, was not brought to trial. Prosecutors claimed that he had even preformed with hired attackers.
Smollett insists that he is innocent. His lawyer stated that he intends to appeal his conviction. The team is certain that he will be freed from all charges.
