FIRST ON FOX- Home Depot founder Bernie Marcus has donated $1 million to former Gov. Missouri First Action reported that Eric Greitens will be running in the 2022 U.S. Senate election in Missouri. Marcus donated the money to Missouri First Action to help the organization purchase media to support Greitens’ Senate campaign.
“Mr. Marcus’ generous contribution shows that Eric Greitens has broad support,” Brandon Wear, a spokesperson for Missouri First Action said in a statement provided to Fox News. With Americans in crisis due to the reckless, far-left policies implemented by Joe Biden and Chuck Schumer, it is more important than ever to put Missouri (and America) first.
Wear said that Eric Greitens, as Governor, proved himself to be a conservative outsider capable delivering results for Show-Me State. “Now, as the next Senator of Missouri, he stands head-and-shoulders above the rest, and Missouri First Action is ready to support him.”
Greitens was a former Navy SEAL Officer who received a Purple Heart after being wounded fighting Al Qaeda in Iraq. He served as Missouri’s 56th governor from January 2017 to June 2018. He was Missouri’s first Jewish governor.
Greitens made public a January 2018 disclosure that he had an extramarital affair in 2015 with a hairstylist. Greitens allegedly abused and blackmailed the hairstylist. The Missouri state legislature’s bipartisan Special Investigative Committee found the woman “overall credible,” but Greitens claims that the report has been discredited. Greitens and Sheena Elise, his second wife, split in 2020, after nine years of marriage.
Greitens was charged with computer tampering in April 2018. However, all charges were dropped one month later. The Missouri Ethics Commission reported almost two years later that Greitens had resigned. However, it didn’t find any wrongdoing on Greitens’ part, but it did fine Greitens’ campaign.
Greitens pushed for regulation reform and signed a right to work bill.
Incumbent Senator Roy Blunt (Republican from Missouri) announced that he wouldn’t run for reelection 2022. This led to a contested GOP primary.
According to recent polls, Greitens is endorsed by Michael Flynn and Sebastian Gorka, former Secretary for the Interior Ryan Zinke, former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani. Kimberly Guilfoyle, Dennis Prager and Dennis Guilfoyle are among the crowded Republican field. Eric Schmitt (Missouri Attorney General) will challenge him. Vicky Hartzler follows them closely.
Although the Republican nominee is expected to win the general election in November, some Republicans are skeptical about Greitens due to his affair with a woman and allegations of sexual assault.
Missouri First Action is an independent political committee that advocates for Missouri candidates who align with the “America First” agenda of former President Donald Trump.
