A resident of California won $699.8 million in the Powerball lottery, The Wall Street Journal reports. The name of the winner was not disclosed.
This is the seventh largest win in the history of US lotteries. The jackpot amount has grown to almost 700 million due to the fact that there have been no winners in the lottery for the last 40 draws who would have hit large jackpots.
It is specified that the American will be able to receive his prize in parts for 29 years or receive 496 million dollars at a time. In both cases, the amount is taxed.
Earlier it was reported that a 54-year-old American Kenneth Morgan from Jacksonville, Florida, cleaned the house and found a lost lottery ticket with a million dollars in winnings. According to him, he bought the ticket in the spring, but then forgot about it.
