Former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili intends to continue his hunger strike until the Georgian authorities release him and the people detained as his accomplices. This, as reported by TASS, was stated by the general director of the Mtavari Arxi TV channel and Saakashvili’s lawyer Nika Gvaramiya.
Gvaramiya read out the address of the ex-president, in which he promised not to stop the hunger strike “in any case” and suggested that the hunger strike would last until the end of his life.
“You know that I have declared a hunger strike. I want you to know that I will not stop it in any case until I and the people detained because of me are free. I love life very much, but this hunger strike will last until the end of my life,” Saakashvili said in a statement.

Mikheil Saakashvili was detained in Georgia on October 1. He arrived on the eve of the local government elections to support his party. Official Tbilisi said that Saakashvili intended to stage a coup and riots.
At home, the politician was sentenced in absentia to six years in prison and is involved in a number of criminal cases, including embezzlement.
