The president of the All-Russian Federation of Rhythmic Gymnastics Irina Viner-Usmanova apologized to sisters Dina and Arina Averina. The latter told RIA Novosti about this.
The athlete said that the specialist admitted that she was wrong, calling the Russians “wet chickens.” At the same time, Averina stressed that Viner-Usmanova supported her and her sister after the Olympics in Tokyo, and was also able to bring the gymnasts to their senses.
On September 1, Wiener-Usmanova told about a tough conversation with the Averin sisters, in which she called the athletes “wet chickens.” So the specialist tried to convince gymnasts not to end their careers.
Averina’s sisters were thinking about retiring from sports after the Tokyo Olympics. In the individual all-around, Dina won silver, and Arina was left without a medal. The Russian side has filed several protests against the work of judges.
