The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Sergei Lavrov, said that Moscow hopes that the Taliban movement (the organization is banned in Russia) will abandon plans to start fighting in Panjshir province and start a dialogue with the Afghan resistance forces. This is reported by RIA Novosti.
The Minister expressed hope that the negotiations between the parties to the conflict will end with success.
“I hope that the negotiations will still end with a negotiated solution, and will not be interrupted, and threats to resume hostilities will not be implemented,” Lavrov said.
Earlier, the resistance forces in the Afghan province of Panjshir announced that the fighters of the terrorist organization Al-Qaeda (the organization is banned in Russia) had joined the Taliban militants attacking them.
On September 1, the head of the Taliban leadership Commission, Amir Khan Mottaki, said that negotiations with the anti-Taliban resistance in Panjshir province had ended in failure.
Panjshir remains the only province not controlled by the Taliban, it is located in a mountainous area northeast of Kabul.
