An retired Los Angeles nun will plead guilty for embezzling $835,000 in the basic college where she functioned to be able to pay for her gaming habits and other private costs, officials said .
Kreuper, who’d taken a vow of poverty for a nun, functioned as a leader at St. James Catholic School in Torrance for 28 decades and allegedly embezzled the funds for 10 years before her retirement at 2018.
“The community of religion in St. James was shocked and saddened by these activities along with the parish, faculty and also the archdiocese reported that the issue and completely cooperated with police from the criminal investigation,” the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, that reported discrepancies in faculty capital in 2018 to government, said in a statement, according to The Los Angeles Times.
Kreuper’s attorney, Mark Byrne, stated she had been”very remorseful” within the alleged offenses, including that a psychological illness triggered her judgment, The Times reported. He added that she’s spent her entire life helping others.
