Readers of the Japanese newspaper Hokkaido Shimbun with indignation took the news about the release in Russia of a five-ruble coins dedicated to the Kuril landing operation.

One commenter wrote that Russia cannot afford to release such a "jubilee" coin.
The coin is issued with a circulation of two million copies. On the reverse depicts a memorial stele to Soviet soldiers – liberators Smoke, which is installed in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.
