Medvedev also said that the US is in full control of the system management of domain names. “Let me remind you that everybody knows. In addition, Medvedev said that the US were discussing the idea of cutting off Russia from the system of verification of payments (from the SWIFT system – approx. “RG”). “Now this is very serious, strict, subjected to pressure people’s Republic of China”, – he said and pointed out that “some of these sanctions” and pressure relate to the Internet.
Therefore, Russia should be maximally ready to possible restrictive decisions from the United States in the future.
So, Medvedev said about the need to update the draft concept of the safe Internet. “We need to give new impetus to ensure the sovereign right of States to Internet governance in the national information space, in our national segment,” he said.
According to Medvedev, Russia believes that the state should have the right to manage their information space. And such work the Russian side to conduct at the international level.
Medvedev recalled that Russia adopted a law establishing a national system for routing network traffic, which should allow to protect the activities of Russian Internet resources from attacks.
