Member of the international Committee of the Federation Council Alexey Kondratyev has explained the strong support of Alexander Lukashenko at presidential elections in Belarus. His words leads RIA Novosti.
The Senator noted that a significant support of the current Belarusian leader is expected. According to him, people vote for stability and security in the country. “For most people in Belarus, Lukashenko is a man who is able to protect the country from turmoil, from the colored revolutions, from the impact of the West,” — said Kondratiev.
The politician added that the opposition politicians suggested holding in Belarus the economic reforms that are “alarming citizens.”
According to first exit polls in the elections of the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko won 79.7 percent of the vote. His main rival Svetlana Tikhanovski — 6.8 percent of votes. Next come the ex-Deputy Anna Konopacka (2.3 percent), co-chair of the Association “Tell the truth” Andrey Dmitriev (1.1 per cent), Chairman of the Belarusian social-democratic party BSDG Sergey Caraceni (0.9 percent). Against all candidates voted 9.2 percent of voters.
