Was later opened other deposits of tin, gold, mercury, uranium, coal.
The largest number of residents of Pevek were counted in 1989, almost 13 thousand people. Now the city is home to 4.5 thousand people. The Exodus in the 1990-ies was caused by the closure of several tin mines.
