This is a fabulous story, written by the famous zoologist and author-naturalist Gerald Durrell, not an encyclopedia, so nothing about the life of ancient dinosaurs you don’t recognize. But will enjoy the story and colorful illustrations.
In some places there are rough turns of phrase. So, in my opinion, it would be nice to read the story together with children and parents.

the Book is based on real events. On the prototypes, documents and historical facts which formed the basis for the book, Alan Gratz says in the notes, and even places of travel card of their heroes. This book is also worth reading together with their parents — the adults will help to correctly interpret a historical context.
“Seagull Jonathan Livingston” by Richard Bach
Finally I want to recommend a very difficult to understand, but incredibly interesting book — “Seagull Jonathan Livingston”. Teenagers often think about the questions about the meaning of life, about their place in this world, purpose, and destiny, to stand out from the crowd to have an opinion. And the author invites them to reflect together with his hero.
Philosophical novel tells a parable about a Seagull, to comprehend the meaning of life and seeking the limit of its capabilities, perfecting the art of flight. Noisy, always noisy and fighting over food native flock discourages hero meaninglessness of their existence for food. Jonathan seeks to understand the root causes. He is wholly given to the study of flight as art and way of being, not as a way of moving in space only for the production of food. He wanted to generously share all their knowledge and discoveries, but the relatives did not understand him, rejected and banished from the pack as the perpetrator of the ancestral traditions of the society of gulls.
