Previously, the Indian edition of the Economic Times, citing military sources, said that the country’s government gave approval for the purchase abroad of light tanks in connection with a military standoff with China in Eastern Ladakh. the author of the article Defence24 believe that the “octopus” due to its low weight, compact dimensions and enormous firepower may show high efficiency as an alternative to the main tank of the armed forces during its use on rough mountain terrain.
According to him, “Sprut-СДМ1” great for neutralizing Chinese tank Type 15, used the PLA to “work” on the highlands.
“Sprut-SD” is an airborne self-propelled anti-tank gun. This technique is used to deal with tanks, other armored vehicles and manpower of the enemy in the units of the airborne troops, Marines and special forces. “Sprut-СДМ1” is an upgraded version of the gun.
