World-famous Andrei Tarkovsky brought the film “Ivan’s childhood”, which premiered in 1962. This is the first feature film directed, filmed based on the novel by Vladimir Bogomolov, “Ivan”. It tells the story of 12-year-old boy who during the war lost his family and was forced to become a scout. In the words of Tarkovsky, with this film he wanted to convey the tragedy of war. The Director chose the theme of childhood, as it “contrasts with the more just war.” The film “Ivan’s childhood” received the “Golden lion” at the Venice film festival.
Historical film-drama (1966) is divided into eight short stories-episodes. Events from the life of the famous icon painter convey the realistic atmosphere of Russia of the XV century. Another fantastic film by Andrei Tarkovsky — painting (1976). The main character makes a living by organizing an illegal expedition into the forbidden to visit the Area. The tape includes audio and video recordings of the lectures of the master that were not previously published as well as interviews and meetings with the audience, video footage from the shooting of the film and the story of the Director about his work.
All the paintings, except for the restored copies will show with a 35-mm film from the Cinematheque “Moschino”.

Andrei Tarkovsky was born April 4, 1932 in zavrazhe village of Ivanovo Industrial region (now the Kostroma oblast). In 1935 the father of Tarkovsky left the family. In the future, the Director will reflect children’s experiences in the film “the Mirror”: the father’s leaving, a mother with two children, the evacuation during the war and the difficulties of everyday life. In seventh grade, Tarkovsky enrolled at the Moscow art school of memory of 1905, where he studied painting. In 1951-1952 he studied at the Arabic Department of the Moscow Institute of Oriental studies.
