the Polish oil and gas company PGNiG has decided to participate in the court case about the release of the “Nord stream-2” from the requirements of the updated EU Gas Directive. This was stated by the Chairman of the company Jerzy Kwiecinski in his Twitter account.
According to him, the claim that “active participation” in the proceedings, the company filed in the superior court of Dusseldorf. The statement also joined the firm PST (PGNiG Supply & Trading), a subsidiary of PGNiG.
Kocinski believes that this step will contribute to the protection of the interests of Poland and Polish companies.
Previously, the operator “Nord stream-2” — 2 Nord Stream AG appealed the decision of the court of the European Union, which refused to consider the claim of the company against the operation of the rules of the Gas Directive in respect of the pipeline. The company stated that do not share the court’s reasoning on the procedural issues and said the amendments to the Gas Directive unlawful discrimination.
In may, the European court of General jurisdiction dismissed the claims of the operators of the “North stream” and “Nord stream-2”, who demanded not to extend the standards of the updated EU gas Directive on gas pipelines from third countries. Before the arrival of the “Nord stream-2” under the rules of the pipeline was refused by the Federal network Agency of Germany (BNA).
the Gas Directive applies to arriving in the EU via the sea gas pipeline, if they were completed later than 23 may 2019. Thus, Nord stream has avoided restrictions, but for the “Nord stream-2” to achieve positive solutions failed.
