Landscaping Berezhkovskaya embankment, embankment of Taras Shevchenko and work in the area of the Kiev station will be finished in 2020, despite the transfer of the majority of the improvement works for the next year due to the coronavirus, said the mayor of Moscow Sergey Sobyanin in his personal blog.
"In 2020, we planned to spend 40 landscaping of streets and parks 180. However, COVID-19 seriously adjusted these plans. Most of the work had to be postponed for next year. But some of the projects we are implementing to the end of this year. One of the largest waterfront of Taras Shevchenko and Berezhkovskaya, the continuation of many years of work in the area of the Kiev station", – said Sobyanin.
According to him, last year for these embankments was started the preparatory work, and the only reason didn’t want to leave the dug-up street for another year.
The mayor noted that the project 2020 will cover the waterfront of Taras Shevchenko from Borodino to Novoarbatsky bridge, Berezhkovskaya embankment to the bridge of Bohdan Khmelnytsky, the Ukrainian half of the Boulevard and both Borodino street.
"Today, the majority of the embankments is excessively wide roadway, while the share of pedestrians there is only a narrow and uncomfortable the sidewalk, where people don’t feel safe. Landscaping is intended to turn these embankments face to the people. It is planned to expand and re-pave the sidewalks, separating them from the roadway with the green walls of shrubs and trees", – wrote the mayor.
He added that space the water will be given to pedestrians, and closer to the roadway will create a path for those who prefer a Bicycle, scooter or other vehicle.
"Located in front of residential houses the Taras Shevchenko embankment will be a great place for walks of local residents – playgrounds and places of recreation in summer and winter. According to the authors of the project, here’s even possible to put a small snow hill", – said the mayor.
He also noted that the front of the Kiev railway station – on the Berezhkovskaya embankment will create a comfortable space for pedestrians and passengers of the riverboats. And near the hotel "Slavic" is planned to create a area the coastal café.
