A protest against the monarchical form of government was held in Adride.
According to the newspaper the National, the demonstrators marched through the city centre shouting: “people’s Republic”.
The participants also opposed, in their view, the “corrupt monarchy”. Protest organizers argue that the country’s inhabitants increasingly reject the current role of state institutions, including the monarchy. The action was supported by some Catalan separatist organizations and political parties that through social networks called to join the demonstration.
Wrote NEWS.ru the government of Catalonia, headed by Kim Torrey, intends to sue the Spanish monarch Juan Carlos I de borbón in connection with allegations of corruption. The legal authorities of the region instructed to consider this possibility.
The defendants in the lawsuit, in addition to Juan Carlos can be his former mistress Corinna Sayn-Wittgenstein-Sayn and “all those who in one form or another, participated, helped, contributed or covered corruption that allegedly were involved the former head of the Spanish state and his entourage”.
The reason for the suspicion of the monarch steel €65 million, which he some years ago gave Corinna Sayn-Wittgenstein-Sayn. Juan Carlos I was the ruler of Spain from November 1975 to June 2014. After the abdication, he retained the title of king.
