The concentration of greenhouse gases in the Earth’s atmosphere continues to grow in 2019 reached a new high for the Russian observation stations, to the review of the status and pollution of environment in Russia for the last year, published by Roshydromet.
In the review of the Roshydromet indicated that “in 2019, the CO2 concentration has continued its growth by updating the regular highs”, RIA “Novosti”.
“In Teriberka and Tiksi average annual value of CO2 made 414,3 million units, during the year, an increase of 3.2 million units and 3 million units respectively,” – stated in the document.
In addition, the increasing content in the atmosphere another greenhouse gas – methane: “For the period from 2009 to 2019, the concentration of CH4 (methane) increased by 60.7 billion units.”
The increase in CO2 concentration in the atmosphere is of anthropogenic nature and connected with the carbon dioxide emissions of power plants and industry.
According to the international panel on climate change, the increasing CO2 content in the atmosphere accelerates the growth of global temperature and contributes to climate change.
