Doctors fear that the number of Russians dying from cardiovascular diseases will continue to grow. The main culprit of the deteriorating health — coronavirus. While heart disease and without that all the last years are the main cause of death of people in the country, accounting for more than 40 percent of deaths.

the First reason for the increase heart deaths — a significant decrease in referrals to cardiologists in the midst of the epidemic. Physicians deployed to fight the virus, and patients themselves have sought to leave the house less. The second reason long-term consequences for the Russians, who suffered COVID-19. “MK” wrote that by September, experts are waiting for such cases a surge in viral and autoimmune myocarditis.

And the third reason is the formation of a new wave of coronavirus: again, a powerful blow to the cardiovascular system of cases, again, the consequences of a few months.

the Chief cardiologist of Ministry of health Sergey Boitsov says that before a pandemic is declared, the recorded decline in mortality in most regions of the country. “The beginning of the year was very encouraging. The entire first quarter we observed a marked reduction in total mortality and mortality from circulatory diseases: January-March — minus 7.5% compared to the same period last year, said a cardiologist at the round table devoted to the peculiarities of the treatment of chronic cardiovascular diseases in the period of the spread of coronavirus. — Then began the pandemic. We waited in April’s growth of deaths from diseases of the circulatory system, but it did not happen. Although a considerable part of patients with high cardiovascular risk, with severe chronic diseases, of course, died because of coronavirus infection. Cardiovascular disease was a factor aggravating the course of the disease”.

During the pandemic, doctors in fact have lost reliable statistics of mortality from cardiovascular disease. “Inside peak of deaths associated with coronavirus, is heart failure. But have poorly implemented a system of biochemical markers — and this is the most accurate way to determine heart failure. People as the cause of death could put COVID. Maybe it made sense to specify both” — says Sergey Boitsov.

In any case, the doctors knew that the growth of circulatory diseases can not be avoided: patients less sought medical help. “During a pandemic the planned aid to the regions was limited. Somewhere more, somewhere less. And the surge of deaths in different regions will be different, — says General Director of the National medical research centre named after V. A. Almazov Evgeny Shlyakhto. — One thing is clear: we needcreatecity attention to the group of patients with high mortality. A huge contribution to mortality make it a chronic disease of the cardiovascular system: congestive heart failure, hypertension, atrial fibrillation. And acute myocardial infarction only 5-7%”.

General Director of pharmaceutical company Irina Panarina notes that “it is very afraid of cancer and forget that the main contribution to the mortality make patients with chronic heart failure”. But the death rate from cancer takes the second place, and by a considerable margin to 16%. From coronary heart disease die 28% of Russians, from cerebrovascular (including stroke) was 14%. “If the patient is not disabled and does not receive free medication, it is usually not treated. Few people spend their money on buying medications,” complains the expert.

Now no doctors Rosstat data for the last two months, and they use the information provided by the Registrar. But this information does not add optimism.

“We see that and in may and June from diseases of the circulatory system is formed by the upward trend in mortality, and this is understandable. July also makes worrying. However, if the second wave is not formed, there is reason to believe that after all we must feel and attenuation of this process,” concludes the chief cardiologist.
