One of the factors that can increase the mortality rate from coronavirus, is a high blood sugar level.

Of the study of Chinese scientists reports Diabetologia. In the publication, in particular, says that experts have examined the relationship between level of glucose in blood and mortality in patients with coronavirus infection who have not previously been diagnosed diabetes.

“Glycemic testing and control is important for all patients with COVID-19, even if they have never had before diabetes, as most patients with COVID-19 are prone to disturbances of glucose metabolism,” noted the researchers.

High blood sugar levels can affect blood vessels and contribute to blood clots and the development of inflammatory processes.
