Two rare volumes of ancient Chinese encyclopedia the 15th century was sold at auction in Paris with a starting price a thousand times. According to the French auction house Beaussant Lefevre, pushed under the hammer for 8 million 128 thousand Euro publication relate to the period of the Ming dynasty who ruled China from 1402 to 1424 of the year. The initial price offered for auction two small books were only eight thousand euros.
In the period from 1404 to 1408 on the compilation of the Yongle encyclopedia (translated as “Eternal happiness”) by order of the third Ming Emperor named Zhu Di had about two thousand Chinese scientists. At that period this book was the most comprehensive encyclopedia in the world and contains more than 22 thousand paragraphs.
Although sold in the Paris manuscripts are copies of the original encyclopedia, the uniqueness of these items lies in their extraordinary rarity. The name of the buyer of antiquities is not disclosed by organizers of the auction.
