The European Union (EU) provided emergency technical assistance to Ukraine to combat flooding in the West country. This was announced on Monday the official representative of the European Commission Eric Mamert at a briefing in Brussels.

Sweden, in particular, has provided protective barriers to block flood water and expert assistance. The EU also sent cards of victims from disaster areas, made using the European satellite system of Copernicus.
Flooding in Western Ukraine began on June 22. In the result, flooded more than 300 settlements in several areas of the country, destroyed dozens of bridges, more than 150 km of roads, three people were killed. The Minister of environment protection and natural resources of Ukraine Roman Abramov believes that the main causes of flooding of settlements became heavy precipitation, deforestation and the development of floodplains.
