last Saturday, many artists and music fans phoned, informing each other and discussing the sad news: the deaths of Oleg parastayev, he was 62 years old – those who knew, remembered, and talked with a musician or just forgot and loved his music. He was not a star of the first magnitude, but still one of the iconic faces of the most romantic pores pop music, leaving behind the expressive in music history the song “Dawn” group “the Alliance”. Shooting a hit in 1988, she not only survived the years, but contrary to all laws of show-business have recently gained a second life and glory.
Over Oleg Parastaev joked: the spitting image of Demis Roussos, the very colorful Greek and bulky bearded man, a popular singer whose hit Souvenirs was one of the most coveted rooms of all “Melodies and rhythms of foreign pop music” in the late 70’s-early 80-ies. Oleg did not mind, he even liked this comparison and he kindly joked: “the Voice just happens.”
However, the bright trace in the music history, he still left not a voice, but a hit “At the Dawn”. Voice, too, is as poignant and romantic rendition of the original version Igor Zhuravlev, the frontman and leader of the group “Alliance”, created the synergy that turned the simple song into a magical musical matter, survived for the entire musical era.
Reminding the public more trifle than with the “evil” intent, past victories of the ancient and almost lost the clip last year on YouTube, parastayev much to his own amazement let the Genie out of the bottle. Oleg himself would no doubt happy to take part in our discussion today, Igor Zhuravlev, the frontman and leader of the Alliance.

– you are Absolutely right. All of our performances, except maybe the time of the album “Made in White” Inna Desirable in the early 90’s, when we sang the song, passed under the sign of “the dawn”. Everyone was waiting for her at concerts. In this sense, I always remember Eaglеs with their Hotel California. In our repertoire is your Hotel California – a song that everyone always waiting.
– Someone suggested that powerful outcry that arose last year after Oleg published online forgotten video “the Dawn”?
– We were surprised, probably even more than anyone. Call it a pleasant surprise – almost nothing to say. More than joy, because in recent times I have increasingly called for the question: why did we do all that – this whole “Alliance”, new wave, new romance? And all of a sudden two or three years ago was a new wave, and it is among young people. At some point it turned out that the average age of those who began to come to our concerts, – 18-25 years, although first there were mostly people who were 30 or over, or already over 50. We felt it on the rock festival ‘Pain’ last summer. When I saw full house, and many people were not even able to enter into it, because he was busy not only all ranks, but passes between them, I experienced a great shock. It was absolutely the youth festival. With excitement it was very difficult to handle because so many years of silence, where we were staying, and suddenly such an explosion of attention to our interest.

– As always, Mr. case. The case is one of the names of God. Oleg accidentally discovered somewhere in the attic a dusty VHS with this clip, which he once on this tape got rid of the guys who did the video. This is surprising, because in the archives of this film have not been, it was demagnetized. Oleg and he has long forgotten he has left this miraculously rewritten the copy and the miracle that he found this dusty tape. – No, this story was as if in parallel, independently of him, we already agreed with Oleg to record and finish an album that we then called “Want to fly” with his songs. Actually, this album we started writing back in 2003, but left unfinished due to our complex personalities. He propylite to 2018, 15 years spent on the shelves! – I Think that’s the longest I know of the history of the creation of one album. Stalling in the record books…
– Completely. We even decided to release it under the name “Alliance”, although in the beginning I was against it, because stylistically it wasn’t quite in the style of the group. Proposed to call “the Song of Oleg Parastaev”. But he convinced me that the name “Alliance” should be a sound. Moreover, Sergei Galanin and the guys from “Bi-2” also told me: “anyway everyone will think that this “Alliance”, once you are reunited with Parastaeva. Don’t worry.” Although from my personal anthology this album all the same falls. However, he was released. In my opinion, was a good and sound. There are songs that could be popular, and may become so again.
I’m glad you were able to overcome past grievances and “reunited”, at least in order to finish its long-standing work…
– actually we went (in 1988) is quite a gentleman. Just the nature of Oleg is not easy, and I have character. He had leadership aspirations, I have too… But we didn’t interrupt relationship, not rasplakalas, so to speak. When, for example, Oleg complained to me that he couldn’t find a vocalist for his project of NRG, I asked him Igor Organova, with whom she studied in school. Ippolitov-Ivanov. Introduced them to. Igor once again and sang the GNR first hit “Time is calling me.”
Oleg came to “Alliance”, which already had years of background from the early 80s. the Group was closed, was resumed. Parastayev, however, did not seem to “man alternatives”…
In College Ippolitov-Ivanov I met Bones Gavrilov-he worked in a “Brigade”, but its not really suited the music they played, and we agreed once again on the soil of the new wave. Both listened to the Talking Heads, Duran Duran… I said I would like to revive the “Alliance”. We began to think. Then there was another bassist Andrey Tumanov, guitarist Sergei Volodin, who, unfortunately, died three years ago. Only then did the modern instruments on which this music actually can and need to do: samplers, electronic drums, the first digital synthesizers. This was the era of new technologies, and we certainly wanted there to Depeche Mode, A-Ha, to these new sounds. But how? It cost a lot of money. To Moscow, to also, much is still not reached. Had some homemade samples. Remember, I went to the House of composers, and there’s a man with his own hands these samples were collected, so the fix was. In General, it was necessary equipment, and appropriately – money. We were already familiar with Oleg, and I asked him, and he would be in the “Alliance” to play? And he said he would, and everything that should be bought, equipped group.
– That is, there were a high roller?
– Yes, he was a money man, he is with them always everything was fine. In Soviet times, he was involved in the so-called Guild business, whatever was hunting the anti-corruption squad. But he was also a musician, because we actually met and I invited him to “Alliance”. Then went Volodin, because he had a different idea about sound, about the direction which should move the group. He liked guitar music, and when he saw that there is a turn towards keyboards to synth-pop, it fell off. Oleg came and gradually began to equip the group. We then in Berlin at rock festival went from Moscow rock laboratory Ensoniq SQ 1, the first synthesizer, which then appeared in Moscow. It was bought by Oleg. I mean, we were in the plan and technical equipment and professional at the peak, so to speak. So we are actually advised in Berlin when it was still the capital of the GDR in 1988, at a rock festival sponsored by local youth Union. From the rock lab, many could go and we went. Then worked on stage with Uriah Heep. German Komsomol members each month inviting some groups from the West. A month before us at the festival came, for example, Depeche Mode.

– I have studied in the third year in Ippolitov-Ivanov, and I’m well brought up on academic singing.
About the recent album, “Want to Fly” with the songs of Oleg, you said – “not quite the style of the Alliance. But the group always drifted between styles. I even remember that in the early ‘ 80s, you led the infamous “black lists” underground rock bands…
– Headed, probably just alphabetically. In General it was a very strange story. In these lists was “Zoo”, “Miracle Yudo”, “Auto peeping” and all that, against which we were just pink and fluffy, but it’s still horrible. Why? I think it will remain a mystery in the bowels of the KGB.

– There’s even ne in the style business. I have always in mind the “Alliance” alternative group – not by style, and positioning. A sort of opposition to the mainstream. The analogy is: Ultravox and Alphaville, two groups, and between them there is a subtle border. First new wave, and the second is already a pop. Pretty hard to catch, but if you see that line, that is good. I can see it. What about songs of Oleg, then I called conventionally “the name of the Union of composers”. They were more like pop than new wave. And it’s not even in formal style, style can be anything and under anything, and it is in a way inherent in the music. Therefore, his songs could become popular, as has happened with “Dawn”. But the “Alliance” in principle, such a task was never to do songs that he sang the whole country, so that they can perform at the feast with a guitar. And mind you, these songs do not, “Alliance” always requires some kind of arrangements, orchestration.
– in Addition to the “nationality” of “the Dawn” has acquired a huge number of covers: from МЭD DOГ to BRAINSTORM the musicians with enthusiasm, pleasure and in every way they covered a song, thus confirming her iconic status. Some of the more interpretations you came?
– by the Way, “Dawn” is once again on the edge, I was talking about. She fell into pop music, really in any group “Mirage”, but a little bit more, have “thumbs”, and she would be there. But we tried, she still remained on the right side. As for covers, I treat them absolutely positive, they all like me. To some extent I welcome them all. In this case, the farther from the original, the more interesting, as it was at Basta, or Monetki. Although BRAINSTORM was good, when suddenly, instead of verse went recitative.
After breaking up with Oleg, the group once again made a sharp turn, having left in the early 90s in the so-called world music with a new seletskoe Inna Zhelannaya. Why such a choice?
Inna did not appear immediately. First returned Volodin, we’re a guitar band were concerts at the festival “Intershans” we went to Belgium, and Denmark. But after these trips to Europe I realized that this is our home-grown new wave was not needed, they have their own groups a lot, and we wanted to become a global group to tour abroad. When we flew back from Copenhagen, once again, and had a conversation about what we need to change, to try new things. Our producer Igor Zamaraev was already familiar with Inna Zhelannaya, she had these Russian motives in the music, it all looked very cool, and we decided that we can do for her arrangement. But we turned gently. The album “Made in White” anyway attended these romant��cal motifs in arrangements.
– it has a very fresh mix of new uima, ethnic, world music. On the MIDEM fair in Cannes have awarded even a prize for this entry. And then something went wrong?
– We have received the Grand Prix from the French radio for “Best group East rock” East of the rock. There was a performance at La Cigale in Paris (the famous concert hall – approx. “MK”). But all went wrong in the country. Beginning of the 90s. Everyone started to disperse (to the West). First left keyboardist Kostia Gavrilov, who was a cornerstone in the “Alliance” from 1986, then went guitarist Kostja Baranov, then our producer Igor Zamaraev. Moreover, Inca became pregnant. In short, here is this rebuilding everything rebuilt and all our plans, hopes. Without them it was very hard. We, of course, traveled for a while with max Trifan, keyboardist of “Polite Refusal”, but that was your last breath. Then she was out of maternity leave and started a solo career, continuing the style of world music. I’m offended that everyone’s abandoned me. Then went to a completely different period, not “Alliance”.
– the Revival of the Alliance after all these years is also a fact unique to the musical Chronicles. What are the impressions of this new state?
I feel very well. I have a very positive mood after the album “I Want to Fly,” the songs parastaeva we released the album “Cosmic Dreams” is not about space exploration, and about space as a place of harmony. Now began work on a new album, a musical material a lot. We went back again to new romance and new wiew. Then we all fed up because it was around, and everywhere, and now romantic music is very small. Generally very little music from the 80’s… And I want to raise this layer of the times Duran Duran, Police, Tears For Fears… For this, I think, now there are all preconditions. The youth aspires to it, we have it clearly proved, and the reaction of the audience at the festival “Pain”, and “resuscitation” “Dawn,” and many other examples. People want romance. And in the 80s music once again all the beauty, in my opinion.
