Employees of the US state Department avoided personal meetings with the leader of the Ukrainian party “Fatherland” Yulia Tymoshenko, because he believed it a Pro-Russian politician. Bolton described his visit to Kiev during the last presidential elections in Ukraine. So, in 2018, the politician arranged a meeting with the representatives of Ukrainian authorities and the opposition. Bolton spoke with the leaders of parliamentary factions, among them Tymoshenko. However, a personal meeting with the leader of “Batkivshchyna” decided not to make because the state Department believed that it is close to Russia.
