Any possible direct interference of Egypt in Libya will have a legitimate status. This was stated by the President of Egypt Abdel Fattah al-Sisi during his visit to the military base in Sidi Barrani, located near the Libyan border.
According to him, this right is based on the need to protect Egypt’s borders from terrorists, to help the Libyans to restore security and stability and to end bloodshed among the citizens of the neighboring country, writes TASS. The President stressed that Egypt was never a supporter of the aggression, he acts only for the sake of peace and security of Libya is part of Egypt’s national security.
Abdel Fattah al-Sisi also urged the country’s armed forces to be ready to perform combat missions outside the Republic. He noted that the Egyptian army is one of the strongest in the region, “but it is the army that protects, not threatens, and it is our unchanged doctrine,” said the head of the Republic.
