The Ministry of defence has published a number of previously unknown documents from the Central archives Department, which is devoted to the beginning of the great Patriotic war. Among them are reports from the front, the cryptogram, as well as diary entries and memories of the participants of the first battles.

According to these documents, by 22 June 1941, the Soviet border was centered 114 infantry, 11 motorized divisions and 15 armored divisions of Nazi Germany. As noted by the chief of the General staff, army General Georgy Zhukov, the enemy took advantage of the fact that the red army was forced to accept battle, occupying its original position the plan cover. This allowed the German army to achieve success in certain areas.

At the same time, despite the extremely difficult situation on some fronts, the red army not only inflicted damage to the enemy, but forced him to retreat over the state border of the USSR.
