Azerbaijan is getting ready to start its gas export to Europe and thus to oust the Russian fuel, said President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, quoted by TASS.
“About 15 years Azerbaijan is reliable supplier of oil to European markets. Soon we will start to deliver in the countries members of the European Union’s natural gas,” said Aliyev.
According to him, delivery will be made on the southern gas corridor (SGC) with the length of 3,5 thousand km, whose construction was initiated and financed Baku.
SGC runs from Azerbaijan through Georgia, Turkey, Greece and Albania to southern Italy. The pipeline is not in operation, the timing of the deliveries is not specified.
it is Expected that its capacity will be 16 billion cubic meters per year (for comparison, the capacity of each of the two strings of the Nord stream, between Russia and Germany to 55 billion cubic meters per year).
