The Ministry of foreign Affairs of Estonia called on Thursday the Russian Ambassador in Tallinn Alexander Petrov in order to consider the State Duma a bill that withdraws the condemnation of the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact and secret protocols to it, said the Minister of foreign Affairs Urmas Reinsalu.

According to the Estonian foreign Ministry, the bill was presented to the Russian Parliament on 27 may and 9 June it was unanimously approved by the state Duma Committee on international Affairs and presented for further discussion. The bill revokes the resolution of the Council of people’s deputies of December 24, 1989, which condemned the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact and its secret protocols.

"We Express our dissatisfaction under consideration in the State Duma the draft law. The international community has repeatedly and strongly condemned the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact", – said Reinsalu at a press conference of the government.

According to the Estonian foreign Ministry, the same diplomatic demarches have taken the foreign Ministry of Latvia and Lithuania.

The Russian Embassy in Tallinn has confirmed to RIA Novosti the fact of the summoning of the Ambassador Alexander Petrov at the Estonian foreign Ministry.

The non-aggression Pact between the USSR and Germany known as the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact was signed in Moscow on 23 August 1939. The Pact was signed by foreign Minister of Soviet Union Vyacheslav Molotov and Minister of foreign Affairs of Germany Joachim von Ribbentrop. The Pact was supplemented with secret additional Protocol, which determined the distinction between Soviet and German spheres of influence in Eastern Europe in the case of "territorial reorganization".

Half a century later, on 24 December 1989 the Congress of people’s deputies of the USSR, at that time the highest authority in the Soviet Union, adopted a resolution "On the political and legal assessment of the Soviet-German non-aggression Pact of 1939", officially condemning the secret protocols as "an act of personal power", not reflected, "the will of the Soviet people, who are not responsible for this conspiracy". It was stressed that "negotiations with Germany in the secret Protocol was conducted by Stalin and Molotov secretly from the Soviet people, the CPSU(b), and the whole party, the Supreme Council and the government of the USSR".

In September, 2019 on the page of the Russian foreign Ministry on Twitter posted a message saying "thanks to the Soviet-German non-aggression Pact, the war began on a strategically more advantageous to the USSR borders, the population of these territories was subjected to Nazi terror two years later, was saved hundreds of thousands of lives".
