Moscow mayor Sergei Sobyanin visited the blood transfusion Department of the city clinical hospital (GKB) № 52. The mayor congratulated the doctors and donors on world blood donor day and thanked them for their great contribution to the preservation of health of Muscovites.
Today, GKB № 52 is one of the few Metropolitan hospitals with facilities for preparation of blood and its components. In 2019, the Department reached a record level harvesting of blood components — 10 thousand litres. For 2015-2019, the share of consumption red blood cell-containing component, the external procurement has decreased from 70 to 22 to 25 percent and the culling of blood components at all stages has decreased to record levels from four to 0.6 percent. This means that blood donors 199 out of 200 used.

In the period of the pandemic COVID-19 all the blood banks in the city continued to work normally, except for blood transfusion of the clinical hospital № 15 (has a private entrance, causing the patient flows may overlap). They strictly enforced anti-epidemic regime, is more frequent cleaning of premises, staff and donors are provided with PPE and comply with the social distance.
For five months 2020 45 337 donors have carried out 63 409 donations, in medical organizations of the city transferred 11 450 liters of red blood cells, 24 837 therapeutic doses of platelets and 8495 liters of plasma. It completely covers the existing needs.

In order to stimulate the donation of plasma donors, convalescent COVID-19 the Moscow Government has established incentive payments estimated at five thousand rubles for 600 ml of plasma. The volume of a single donation must be at least 300 and not more than 600 ml (plus or minus 10 percent).

City clinical hospital № 52 is one of the largest in Moscow multidisciplinary medical-diagnostic institutions, located at Infantry street, house 3.
