Guterres urged countries to ensure that critical food supplies in humanitarian aid to freely reach the most vulnerable groups of the population. According to the Secretary General, it is necessary to keep trade corridors open and to maintain continuity of supply chains of agricultural products. It is also important to strengthen the exchange of information to more quickly get data on who and where suffering from famine, and what kind of support these people required.
General Secretary stressed that States must provide guaranteed access to safe and nutritious food especially for young children, pregnant and lactating women, the elderly and representatives of various vulnerable groups. Guterres urged to support children without access to school meals, which the world is now about 352 million.
