on Tuesday, the Presidium of the General Council “United Russia” decided to recommend to the nomination from the party in the upcoming elections of the President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, Governor of Krasnodar Krai Veniamin Kondratiev, Governor of the Kostroma region Sergey Sitnikov, the Governor of Tambov region Alexander Nikitin and the Governor of Bryansk region Alexander Bogomaz. Besides from the EP will go to the polls, the acting governors of the Kaluga (Vladislav Shapsha), Arkhangelsk (Alexander Tsybulsky), Jewish Autonomous region (Rostislav Goldstein) and Sevastopol (Michael Razvozhaev).
“This is the first important step in the campaign, from 22 June to begin the defence strategies of our candidates, including protection of the governors, who will go from the party,” said Turchak.
Deputy Secretary of the General Council Sergei Perminov also said that the nomination takes place in two stages. “We recommended inclusion of candidates in the common ballot, then passes regional conference”, – he reminded.
