the Government has proposed to give citizenship of the Russian Federation in a simplified procedure all foreigners whose children already have Russian passports and has reached 18 years of age. As explained to deputies of the Deputy interior Minister Igor Zubov, now the rule only applies to disabled parents of adult children. So, in 2018 the right to a simplified procedure was used 8250 foreigners.
What will the simplified procedure? Most importantly – will not have to comply with the provisions on the term of stay in Russia for citizenship.
the entry of the law into force (it will occur 90 days after publication) will allow to create comfortable conditions for family reunification, as well as a positive impact on the labour market in the Russian Federation, stressed Teeth. Innovation, according to the estimates of his Department, will allow Russia to receive about 50 thousand new citizens a year. And basically it will be experienced, qualified staff, calculated at the interior Ministry. In the Department are based on previous experience of reception in citizenship of the Russian Federation.
the Deputy Minister also commented on the doubts of MPs, whether foreign migrants to have children in Russia with the aim of obtaining citizenship. He stressed that Russia is sufficiently selective to citizenship. “We do not open, as you say, gateways to anybody, he said. – We provide the opportunity, and if there are circumstances that prevent you from receiving citizenship, the person will not get it”.
the bill emphasized that the children of the applicant for citizenship must be competent and of legal age. This is a precautionary measure – that the passport of the Russian Federation was received by those foreigners that support the relationships with his family and older children.
the second reading of the bill added a provision stating that Russia introduced mandatory fingerprint registration of people wishing to obtain citizenship. This will affect those candidates in respect of whom such a procedure was not done before. This amendment is intended to prevent the penetration in the Russian Federation of persons, provide assistance to terrorists, told in the profile Duma Committee on CIS Affairs.
in addition, the bill addresses a legal conflict, which rejected the application for the granting of the Russian citizenship under the simplified scheme adopted children.
