Different kinds of measures for the introduction of quarantine, social distancing, etc., helped to avoid 62 million confirmed cases of infection COVID-19 only six countries in the world.
To such conclusion scientists from University of California Berkeley, they studied the effect of more than 7 thousand orders of local, regional and Central authorities in China, USA, South Korea, Italy, France and Iran. Was considered a variety of measures from the strict quarantine until the travel ban, closure of shops and requirements of social distancing.
According to scientists, these measures reduced the number of confirmed cases to 62 million, including 37 million cases in China, 11.5 million in South Korea, 5 million in Iran, 4.8 million — in the United States, 2.1 million in Italy and 1.4 million in France. Given the large number of unrecorded cases in total we are talking about 530 million cases, of which 285 million were on China, and 60 million in the U.S., 49 million in Italy.
“Our findings confirm that continuing policy aimed at combating the spread of the virus, significantly reduced the number of cases COVID-19, observed in the world today,” say the study authors.
