The Minister of foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov and Minister of foreign Affairs of Belarus Vladimir Makei discussed on Wednesday by telephone the possible consequences of the US withdrawal from the Treaty on open skies (DON), and also confirmed the necessity of bilateral cooperation in ensuring safety.
"In the development of the meeting of the Council of foreign Ministers of the organization of collective security Treaty (CSTO) on 26 may, the Ministers discussed in detail the possible consequences of the US withdrawal from the Treaty on open skies. Confirmed the need for close cooperation on the issue of the Treaty, in which Russia and Belarus constitute one group of States parties, on the basis of the priority tasks of ensuring the security of the two countries and the Union state", – stated in the message of the Russian foreign Ministry.
