The doctors asked the President of Russia Vladimir Putin to impose a moratorium on criminal proceedings against them. Doctors together with lawyers have written an open letter to the Russian leader, reports TASS.
It is proposed to protect doctors against lawsuits from patients and their relatives in the period from March 21 of this year until the end of the pandemic coronavirus.
It is noted that we are talking about articles that would criminalize the death of a person by negligence and infliction of grievous bodily harm for the same reason, and also for failure to render aid to the patient and the violation of sanitary-epidemiological rules. Also, doctors are asked to suspend criminal penalties for abuse of office, production, storage, transportation and distribution of goods and products and works that do not meet safety requirements.
The authors of the letter asking for a ban on the arrest of doctors during a pandemic. It is noted that doctors and other staff in the health sector have to take “hundreds of thousands of not only medical but also legal solutions.” While each of these decisions can be challenged, the letter says.
Also the authors of the letter pointed to the fact that doctors during a pandemic are putting yourself at high risk of Contracting coronavirus and death. In addition, they have to deal with heavy physical work load, and regimen of work and rest and prolonged separation from family, the letter said.
Earlier, the Minister of health of Michael Murashko said that additional funds to Russian doctors for work with infected with the coronavirus have been paid by may 15. In early April the President of Russia Vladimir Putin suggested to establish for three months, beginning April 1, a special Federal payment for professionals who work with patients with coronavirus.
